Waynflete, an independent day school serving 550 students in Portland, ME, is seeking a Director of Family Engagement and Giving to drive donor activity within the school’s parent and grandparent community. The focus of this position will be on fostering lasting relationships, soliciting philanthropic support, and strategically planning for the long-term sustainability of the family giving program. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, this position will work closely with other members of the Waynflete administration to further development-related efforts while acting as a liaison between Waynflete and parents, grandparents, and other family connections to create a successful family-school partnership. This is a year-round position beginning in September with some weekend and after-hours work required.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS

A belief in independent school education, keen understanding of Waynflete’s mission and goals, and the ability to articulate its uniqueness and relevance.

Minimum of 3 years or equivalent experience in fundraising in a mission-driven, nonprofit environment. Bachelor's degree required.

Excellent communication skills and a strong ability to inspire and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships. (Proven record of closing major gifts is a plus.)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite or Google Workspace software equivalent.

A working knowledge or willingness to learn about Veracross (Waynflete’s CRM system).

A solution-oriented mindset, a demonstrated sensitivity in handling confidential information, strong skills in diplomacy, communication, collaboration, and a sense of humor.
