Description
Waynflete School, an independent co-educational day school dedicated to fostering intellectual curiosity and individual growth in students aged 3 to 18, is seeking a dedicated Cafe Assistant. This is a unique opportunity to join a vibrant community and play a vital role in providing exceptional service and light food preparation for our 575 students, faculty, and staff in a bustling school cafe.  This position is approximately 35-40 hours weekly, 7am - 2pm, from late August thru late June annually. This position offers a competitive wage of $19-$21/hour, commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, life, disability, flexible spending, retirement plan matching, 3 weeks vacation, 10 sick days, 2 personal days, and 8 paid holidays. Seeking candidates for an immediate start.

Responsibilities include:
  • Customer service in a school cafe that serves up to 250 people a day;
  • Use of Heartland Point of Sale program (training will be provided);
  • Food preparation (cold bar prep of sandwiches, salads, etc);
  • Cleaning and maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, sweeping, and mopping.
The successful candidate will possess:
  • Experience in a kitchen preferred;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced environment meeting the needs of students, faculty and staff; 
  • Serve Safe certification strongly preferred (but not required); knowledge of health and safety standards as they relate to food preparation required;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Computer competence with Point of Sale system;
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds;
  • A genuine enjoyment of working with and caring for children;
  • Demonstrates initiative and a proactive approach;
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules or needs, patience in a busy environment, and a sense of humor to foster a positive atmosphere.
