Waynflete seeks a qualified and enthusiastic Physics and Astronomy teacher for a leave coverage position beginning September 3, 2024 or as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching physics and introductory astronomy courses at the high school level. This is a temporary position for at least one semester, with the possibility of extension to a full academic year.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach physics and introductory astronomy courses to high school students
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards
- Assess and evaluate student progress, providing timely feedback
- Collaborate with other science department faculty members
- Participate in department meetings and professional development activities
- Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical sciences, or a closely related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Demonstrated experience teaching physics and/or astronomy at the high school level
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage students through various teaching methods and technologies
- Passion for science education and student success
Preferred Skills
- Experience with inquiry-based and hands-on learning approaches
- Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms
- Background in curriculum development or educational research
