Description
Waynflete is seeking a part-time Lower School math support person for the 2023-2024 school year to work with students and advisors as they engage in the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum. Daily work will include collaborating with grade-level math advisors to increase student engagement and progress pushing into grade-level math classes to work directly with students. Desired candidates will have familiarity with the Common Core Mathematical Practices and student-centered instructional routines, such as flexible grouping and low-floor, high-ceiling problem-solving, used in mathematics. Although experience with Illustrative Mathematics is preferred, any candidate with a passion for differentiating in the math classroom and experience in collaborative leadership is encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include:
  • Work with students regularly in grade-level math classes to support and stretch conceptual understanding, reasoning, and visual thinking skills
  • Meet with grade-level advisors weekly to provide feedback and observations of student readiness and engagement
  • Collaborate with advisors to reflect on and refine flexible grouping instructional routines to serve the range of student skills and needs in the classroom
  • Prepare supplemental resources to aid in student learning and support advisors as they differentiate instruction
  • Support advisors in administering assessments, evaluating student mastery, and recording quantitative and qualitative data measurements
  • Work with the Lower School Math Specialist and LS Academic Support Director to conduct Tier 2 RTI in mathematics
  • Work with LS math specialist to outline assessment measures and digitize modifications
