Description

Waynflete is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Physical Education (Grades EC–5) to cover a parental leave from December 1 to December 19, 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about teaching physical education and promoting healthy lifestyles in early childhood through 5th grade.

An additional long-term substitute assignment is anticipated from May 4 to June 10, 2026, and candidates interested in either or both time periods are encouraged to apply.

Coaching Opportunities:
This position may be combined with coaching opportunities in basketball, swimming, Nordic skiing, or lacrosse, depending on experience and availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-plan and implement engaging physical education lessons aligned with grade-level standards.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and active environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with the PE department and classroom teachers to support student wellness.
  • Manage class behavior and maintain a positive, respectful learning environment.
  • Participate in school activities and divisional duties as required. Some activities will include working with students in our Upper School (grades 9-12).

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Physical Education, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with younger children in a school setting, ideally in physical education.
  • Coaching experience in basketball, swimming, Nordic skiing, or lacrosse is a plus.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
