Waynflete seeks a passionate and developmentally-informed educator to serve as a part-time Middle School Dean of Students starting in late August. The Dean of Students is a relatively new and vital position at the school, focused on working collaboratively and in partnership with the Middle School Director to design, refine, and nurture a student experience that meets the unique needs and capacities of our students in grades six through eight.
The Dean of Students role is dynamic and offers opportunities to support students in developing their voices and making a positive impact on the life of the Middle School. The role involves helping to plan and convene community events, including weekly assemblies, and collaborating with teaching colleagues as they support student well-being. Meeting with parents, leading the design and implementation of advising curricula, participating in the division’s student support team, and working with students to address behavioral concerns are other core duties.
Qualifications:

Degree in School Counseling or a related field.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in middle school teaching or administration

Proven track record in implementing and managing student support programs.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Experience with restorative practices and crisis management; training in Responsive Classroom preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and colleagues

Strong mentoring and coaching skills.

Demonstrated commitment to promoting DEIB within the school community.
