Waynflete seeks an experienced elementary educator beginning with the 2022-2023 school year as a full-time teacher/advisor in a team-organized, multi-age, interdisciplinary, thematic program. Candidates should possess a collaborative and creative spirit and excellent communication skills. Applicants should indicate their interest in teaching in grade levels 2&3 or 4&5.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing 12-16 students in a home station as the primary classroom instructor

  • Working closely with a team of grade-level professionals towards collective goals and shared initiatives

  • Teaching literacy (Daily Five, Voyager Passport), mathematics (Illustrative Mathematics), social studies and science (Next Generation Science and Social Justice Standards)

  • Commitment to creating a class culture based on Responsive Classroom practices and principles of positive behavior and restorative practices

  • Utilizing a backward design approach to the Common Core informed curriculum and developing essential questions and learning targets as part of the EC-12 continuum

  • Differentiating instruction in service of equity and inclusion

  • Crafting formative and summative assessments to inform data-driven instruction and monitor student progress

  • Participating in professional growth activities and serving on committees as determined by all-school, divisional, and personal goals

  • Building effective relationships with students, families, and colleagues

  • Understanding the continuum of child development
