Waynflete is looking for a full-time, Upper School history teacher to join our faculty beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.  Responsibilities will include teaching and advising in the upper school (though there is a possibility of middle school assignments as needed) and overseeing co-curricular activities and/or coaching. Waynflete requires students to take two credits of history to graduate. The minimum credits are earned with a combination of World History in the 9th grade and U.S. History in the 11th grade, though most students take history in the 10th grade as well. The History Department also offers a variety of elective courses for seniors. These elective courses vary from year to year but may include Political Ideologies, Women and Islam, World War II, US History since 1945, Immigration in the US, and Native American History, among others. 

This individual will be expected to teach a variety of courses, primarily in 9th and 11th grade, and ideally will have experience in teaching courses such as World Civilizations and United States History (the themes of our 9th and 11th grade courses, respectively). Strong candidates will have expertise with the research process and both United States and non-Western historical content. Overall, we are looking for someone with expertise, experience, and the desire to work with young people in a variety of ways.
